A lovely entry from Bruichladdich that was created by master distiller Jim McEwan. Matured in American oak casks, that have previously housed Bourbon, this whisky is warming and delightful. The lack of smoky, peaty flavors is no issue as the other aromas and flavors are just so good. Delicious.
The Bruichladdich distillery (pronounced BROOK-LAD-DEE) can be found on Islay. They have recently made waves in the whisky industry with their heavily peated Octomore range. The distillery holds the island on which it sits dear to it. All of their barley is sourced in Scotland and, since 2004, they have even been using some Islay grown barley. They are also responsible for the island’s only commercially sized bottling hall. For more information, click here.
