This Glendronach 19 Year Old was distilled in the Scottish Highlands in 1993 before being matured in an Oloroso Sherry cask fro 19 Years. It was then bottled at a cask strength of 55.6% and released as a Taiwanese exclusive in 2015. Only 705 bottles were ever produced, making this an increasingly rare, but absolutely delightful whisky.
The Glendronach distillery was founded in 1826 by James Allardes. It was the second distillery to apply for permit that allowed them to legally produce whisky under the Excise act of 1823. It was purchased by Teachers and Sons in the 1960s and they added four new stills, increasing the total number to 6. The distillery was mothballed in 1996 before being reopened by Allied Distillers in 2001. It then changed hands on several other occasions before ending up with the Brown-Forman Corporation in 2016. Over the years they have produced many excellent single-malt expressions, most of which have been matured in some form of Sherry cask.
